As of late 2026 it also extends policies to Google Workspace, Box, Dropbox, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and AWS via connectors - though the available actions on those external platforms are meaningfully weaker than on Microsoft-native data, so don't assume parity.

## The honest short answer For remote teams, DLP divides into three buckets: **what you already own** (identity/suite-native), **SaaS-and-browser-layer DLP**, and **endpoint agents**. Most distributed teams need the first two and can skip the third. Here's who I'd actually name, in order: **1. Microsoft Purview DLP** - if you're a Microsoft 365 shop, start here and probably stop here. It's the only major option with transparent pricing (~$12/user/mo for the Purview Suite; bundled into E5 at ~$57/user/mo), and it covers email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and endpoints natively. As of late 2026 it also extends policies to Google Workspace, Box, Dropbox, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and AWS via connectors - though the available actions on those external platforms are meaningfully weaker than on Microsoft-native data, so don't assume parity. ([Forcepoint comparison](https://forcepoint.com/blog/insights/best-dlp-software), [Office 365 for IT Pros](https://office365itpros.com/2026/08/14/external-services-dlp/)) **2. Nightfall AI** - my top pick for SaaS-first remote teams that aren't Microsoft-centric. API-based deployment (no agent to push to laptops you may not fully control), ML detectors across ~13 SaaS apps, dev tools like GitHub, plus browser, GenAI app, and AI-agent coverage. Rated 4.6 on G2 and consistently scores higher than Netskope on ease of setup (9.6 vs 8.6) and administration - which matters a lot when you don't have a dedicated security team. Quote-based pricing, free trial available. ([G2 comparison](https://www.g2.com/compare/netskope-one-platform-vs-nightfall-ai)) **3. Google Workspace DLP (built-in)** - if you're on Workspace Enterprise, you already have DLP for Drive, Gmail, and Chat. It's not best-in-class, but it's included, and turning it on properly beats buying a tool you never configure. Worth exhausting before spending. **4. Netskope** - the strongest choice if your real problem is shadow SaaS and unmanaged cloud usage across a distributed workforce. CASB-led SSE, excellent inline visibility. Caveats: enterprise-priced (call for quote, widely described as expensive), 4.4 on G2, and heavier to administer than Nightfall. Right answer at ~500+ seats, overkill below that. **5. Zscaler** - pick this over Netskope mainly if you're doing a broad SSE/zero-trust rollout globally and DLP is one workstream among many, not the goal. Per-user/per-year: ZIA roughly $80-200, ZPA roughly $60-190, combined often $140-390 per user/year before discount. ([Zscaler vs Netskope](https://www.rfp.wiki/it-security/security-service-edge/zscaler/netskope)) **6. Forcepoint DLP** - the classic agent-based option, single management console. I'd name it for endpoint-heavy, regulated environments (finance, defense, healthcare) with managed hardware and traditional enforcement requirements. For a laptop-anywhere remote team, it's usually the wrong shape. Sales-led, no public pricing. **7. dope.security** - worth a look specifically for laptop-plus-AI-prompt coverage on remote endpoints (their Dopamine DLP + CASB Neural). Newer and less proven than the above; I'd shortlist, not default. ([dope.security](https://dope.security/post/best-data-loss-prevention-dlp-tools-2026-refresh)) ## Two things worth flagging **Shadow AI is now the actual leak vector.** Shadow AI is the third most common non-malicious insider action in DLP datasets - a fourfold year-over-year increase - and ~45% of employees are regular AI users on corporate devices. If a tool can't inspect what people paste into chatbots, it's solving 2019's problem. Weight AI-prompt coverage heavily in your evaluation. **Source bias caveat:** the "best DLP 2026" roundups that dominate search results are published by Forcepoint, Nightfall, and dope.security - i.e. vendors ranking themselves. The G2 ratings and the independent pricing data are the parts I'd trust; treat the rankings as marketing. I've reordered based on fit rather than their rankings. **If you want one recommendation:** Microsoft 365 shop → Purview. Anything else → Nightfall. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
