The answer, as recorded

# Best church management software (ChMS), 2026 There's no single winner - the right pick depends almost entirely on your church's size. Here's how I'd rank them, in the order I'd actually suggest looking: **1. Planning Center - the default recommendation for most churches.** Modular: you buy People, Services, Giving, Check-Ins, Groups, Calendar, Registrations separately, each on a $15/$32/$69/$115/$179/$239 usage ladder. **People (the member database) is free at any size**, and Services, Giving, Check-Ins, Groups and Calendar all have free tiers, so you can start at $0 and add modules as you need them. A typical 150-person church using most modules lands around $160-$180/month. Best-in-class worship/volunteer scheduling, and the Church Center app is genuinely good. **2. Breeze ChMS - best for small-to-mid churches that want simple and predictable.** One flat rate (~$72/month) for unlimited people and unlimited admin users, no tiers to grow into. Easiest onboarding in the category. The honest tipping point is around 400-600 members: below it Breeze is usually cheaper and plenty; above it, Planning Center's depth earns the higher price. Note Breeze has been owned by Tithe.ly since 2021 - separate product and roadmap, but increasingly bundled into that ecosystem. **3. ChurchTrac - best if budget is the main constraint.** Free tier for churches under ~100 people, paid plans from about $7/month, scaling by people count. It does membership, giving, accounting, and check-in competently. Not as polished as the two above, but nothing else comes close on price. **4. Rock RMS - best for large or highly custom churches with technical staff.** Free and open-source, and extraordinarily deep: membership, groups, check-in, giving, communications, and a real workflow engine. It powers 10 of the 12 largest US churches (Life.Church, Church of the Highlands, Saddleback, North Point) and holds 35M+ people records. "Free" means licensing only - you need a developer or an implementation partner, so total cost is often higher than Planning Center. **5. Pushpay / ChurchStaq (with Church Community Builder) - best for large multi-site churches prioritizing giving and app engagement.** Pushpay acquired Church Community Builder and combined its ChMS with Pushpay's giving and custom-app platform. Strongest on digital engagement and donor tooling; enterprise pricing (quote-based) and a heavier implementation. **6. Tithe.ly - best if you want church website + app + giving + ChMS from one vendor.** ChMS starts around $49/month; the All-Access bundle is $119/month, with the all-in-one website/app builder tiers running $99-$199/month. Compelling if you'd otherwise stitch together three vendors; a step behind Planning Center on pure ChMS depth. **7. ACS Realm - best if you want a broad, vendor-supported ecosystem with real implementation help.** Worth a look for large multi-site churches where engagement features, granular permissions, and hand-holding during migration matter more than price. **8. ChurchSuite - the strongest UK/Europe-first option** (from ~$15.50/month), and **Servant Keeper (~$69.99/month)** if you specifically want a locally-installed, desktop-based system rather than cloud. **My shortlist if you don't want to evaluate eight things:** small church → Breeze (or ChurchTrac if cost-driven); typical church → Planning Center, starting with the free People tier; large or multi-site → Rock RMS if you have technical capacity, Pushpay if you don't. One caveat on the sources: much of the head-to-head comparison content in this category is published by the vendors themselves or by affiliate blogs, so treat specific pricing as a starting point and confirm on each vendor's own pricing page - several of these changed tiers in 2026.
