Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest you try them: **1. Float** - My default pick for most small businesses. It plugs straight into Xero, QuickBooks Online, or FreeAgent and turns your existing invoices and bills into a rolling daily/weekly cash view, so setup is hours rather than weeks. Strongest at the thing most small businesses actually need: "will I make payroll in six weeks, and what happens if this client pays late?" Scenario planning is genuinely usable by a non-finance owner. ~$59/mo Essential, $99/mo Premium. It deliberately does *only* cash flow - if you want full three-statement reporting, look at Fathom instead. **2. Fathom** - Best if you want forecasting *plus* real management reporting and KPI tracking in one tool. Highest user ratings of the group (4.7/5 on G2) and the better choice if you have an accountant or bookkeeper who'll be in there with you, or if you run multiple entities and need consolidation. From ~$50/mo. Slightly more of a learning curve than Float. **3. Futrli (by Sage)** - Good value and the friendliest for a true micro-business or sole trader; entry pricing is very low (around $11-15/mo depending on tier). Sage acquired it in 2022 and has kept it as a standalone product alongside Sage for Accountants, so it's a safe bet on longevity. Works with Xero and QuickBooks, not just Sage. **4. Pulse** - The budget option, from ~$29/mo. Simple, project-level cash forecasting with QuickBooks/Xero sync. Pick this if Float feels like overkill and you mainly want to stop doing this in a spreadsheet. Less polished and less actively developed than Float. **5. Agicap** - Worth a look if you're in Europe/UK, have multiple bank accounts or currencies, or are past the "small" stage into lower mid-market. Very good UX and bank-feed coverage, 12-month scenario modelling. Downside: quote-only pricing and a sales process, so not a quick self-serve signup. **6. Jirav** - Only if you want full FP&A - driver-based three-way forecasts, headcount planning, budget-vs-actual. More tool (and more cost) than a typical small business needs, but the right answer if you're VC-backed or reporting to a board. Two things worth knowing: - **Skip Finmark.** It still shows up at the top of a lot of "best of" lists, but BILL is sunsetting it on **April 1, 2026** - it was acquired in 2022 and discontinued rather than integrated. Don't start there. - **Try your accounting software's built-in forecast first.** QuickBooks and Xero (Xero Analytics Plus) both have short-term cash flow projections included or cheap. If you just need a 30-90 day view, that may be enough and costs you nothing extra. If you want one answer with no further thought: **start with Float's free trial** against your live Xero/QBO data. If you find yourself wanting reporting and KPIs too, switch to Fathom. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
