Hardware-agnostic, covers physical servers, VMware/Hyper-V, endpoints, and M365 natively. Essentials is the SMB-priced edition, capped at 50 workloads. The catch: you're running the backup infrastructure yourself - monitoring jobs, chasing failures - which is a liability if you have no IT person. Also note Veeam raised prices 4-8% in January 2026, the second straight year of increases. **2. Datto (via an MSP)** An on-site appliance plus cloud replication. The appliance can boot your failed server locally in minutes, which is the thing most SMBs are actually buying when they say "backup." You can't buy it direct - it's sold through managed service providers, so it comes with a person attached. That's a feature if you don't have IT staff, a cost if you do.
