The answer, as recorded
For most agencies I'd put together a small stack rather than hunt for one tool that does everything. In the order I'd pick them: 1. **Semrush or Ahrefs (pick one as your main research tool).** Either handles keyword research, competitor analysis, backlinks, rank tracking, site audits and now AI search visibility. Ahrefs has better backlink data and suits link-heavy SEO work. Semrush is stronger for PPC research, content marketing and running client campaigns in one place, so it fits full-service agencies. Entry prices are about $129/mo for Ahrefs Lite and $139.95/mo for Semrush. Extra seats cost $45-$100 per user, which adds up quickly for agencies. - https://konabayev.com/blog/semrush-vs-ahrefs/ - https://teamupdraft.com/blog/best-seo-tools-for-agencies/ 2. **SE Ranking (the budget option, or instead of #1 if you have many small clients).** It covers rank tracking, audits and white-label reporting for much less. Its Agency Pack is listed at about $103/mo with unlimited users and white-label included, and extra managers cost about $20/mo. Its project setup scales cheaply across lots of small accounts. - https://dupple.com/blog/se-ranking-vs-semrush - https://gigradar.io/blog/seo-agency-tools 3. **Screaming Frog (technical crawling).** It's the standard crawler for deep technical audits. It has no URL cap on the paid license, a lot of configuration options, and it's the better fit if you want to automate crawls. **Sitebulb** is the alternative if you'd rather have visual, prioritized audit reports that you can hand straight to clients. - https://pikaseo.com/comparisons/screaming-frog-vs-sitebulb - https://getspike.ai/blog/screaming-frog-vs-sitebulb/ 4. **AgencyAnalytics (client reporting).** It gives you white-label dashboards per client, with rank tracking and site audits built in. **Whatagraph** or **DashThis** are good alternatives if you want more flexible dashboards or simpler setup. - https://whatagraph.com/blog/articles/seo-reporting-tools-for-agencies - https://www.workduo.ai/blog/seo-reporting-tools-for-agencies 5. **BrightLocal (if you have local or multi-location clients).** It covers local rank tracking, citation audits and listings, and review monitoring, with white-label reports. Plans start around $29-$44/mo. - https://www.rankability.com/blog/best-local-seo-tools/ - https://localo.com/blog/best-local-seo-tools-for-agencies 6. **Surfer or Clearscope (content optimization).** These are useful if you produce a lot of content for clients and want briefs and on-page scoring that writers can follow. - https://www.rankability.com/blog/best-seo-content-optimization-tools/ 7. **AI search visibility tracking.** Clients are increasingly asking how they show up in ChatGPT and AI Overviews. If you already pay for Ahrefs, start with **Ahrefs Brand Radar**; on Semrush, use its **AI Visibility Toolkit**. Look at a separate tool like **Profound** only if AI visibility becomes a service you sell on its own. - https://www.searchinfluence.com/blog/ai-seo-tracking-tools-2026-analysis-platforms/ - https://www.rankability.com/blog/best-ai-search-visibility-tracking-tools/ Also connect every client's **Google Search Console** and **GA4**. They're free, they're the source data behind most of these tools, and clients trust them most. (I didn't look these up.) **A typical setup:** one main suite (Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking), plus Screaming Frog, plus AgencyAnalytics, plus BrightLocal if you do local work. Many of these "best of" lists are written by vendors that rank themselves first: Whatagraph, Rankability, Localo and SE Ranking all do this. The prices above come from third-party pages dated 2026, so check them on each vendor's pricing page before you buy. Most of these tools have free trials, so try your top two main suites on a real client before committing. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
