The answer, as recorded
"Remote team" splits into two very different problems, so here's both - the fork matters more than any single pick. ## If your team is remote but all US-based (multi-state) **1. Rippling** - my default recommendation. Benefits admin sits in the same system as payroll, state tax registration, and device management, so a new hire in a new state triggers the registration, the plan enrollment, the deduction, and the laptop shipment from one record. Runs as ASO (your EIN) or PEO, so you can start on the PEO for better premiums and move off without re-platforming. Core is ~$8/employee/month but realistically $20-35+ once you add payroll, benefits, and IT. **2. Justworks** - best if you're small and want leverage on premiums. It's a true PEO: co-employment under their EIN gets you large-group health rates a 15-person company can't get alone, plus they absorb the multi-state compliance headache. $59/employee/month Basic, $99 Plus. The tradeoff is less configurability and you're on their plan menu. **3. Gusto** - best under ~50 employees if you want clean payroll with competent benefits rather than a benefits powerhouse. Cheapest of the three, easiest to run without an HR person, no co-employment. Insurance options are thinner than a PEO's, and it's only licensed as a broker in a subset of states - check yours before committing. **4. Sequoia One or Paylocity/Paycor** - worth a look at 100+ employees. Sequoia One if benefits are a recruiting weapon and you want real advisory; Paylocity/Paycor if you want benefits inside a conventional HRIS workflow. ## If your team spans countries **1. Deel** - widest coverage (150+ countries), and benefits enrollment flows straight into Deel payroll with no separate carrier reconciliation. EOR from ~$599/employee/month, contractors ~$49. Best when you have 10+ contractors or EOR in 5+ countries. It's a heavy platform and support quality varies by region. **2. Remote** - my pick if you want predictability over breadth. Fully public pricing (from ~$699 EOR), 80+ owned entities rather than partner-brokered ones, which means fewer surprises on benefits quality and termination handling. Highest G2 rating of the EOR set at 4.6. Better for smaller, tighter setups. **3. Oyster** - strongest onboarding and employee-experience layer, localized benefits packages per country, free contractor tier. Good if you're remote-first by philosophy and want employees to feel equally treated across borders; less flexible for genuinely complex compliance situations. **4. Papaya Global** - only at 1,000+ employees, where the tiered pricing discounts get steep. 160+ countries. **One caution:** if you're mixing employees and contractors, don't extend the same benefits package to contractors to make things feel fair - in the US and much of the EU that's direct evidence for a misclassification claim. Deel and Remote both offer contractor-safe stipend structures instead; use those. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
