# Which squares numbers win most often, and why it does not matter before the draw

Football scores move in sevens and threes, so the last digits 0, 7, 3 and 4 come up far more often than 2, 5 and 9. That is why the digits are drawn after the grid is locked: before the draw every square is exactly as good as every other.

## The arithmetic

- Touchdowns with the kick add 7, field goals add 3, a safety 2, a two-point conversion makes 8: running totals land on 0, 7, 3, 4 (and 1, with a kick after a field goal) more than on 2, 5 or 9.
- A 0-0 square wins the first quarter whenever neither team has scored; it is the single most valuable square before any points.
- Late in a game, 2, 5 and 9 pay off from safeties, two-point tries and stacked field goals, which is why the final can surprise.

## What it means for your pool

- Claim any square you like; the draw decides its digits after the lock, and the tool shows the draw's time so everyone can see it came later.
- If your group wants the swing, run the payout final-heavy: the later the period, the more evenly the digits spread.

## Quick answers

**What are the best numbers in Super Bowl squares?**

After the draw, 0, 7, 3 and 4 win most often because football scores move in sevens and threes; 2, 5 and 9 win least. Before the draw no square is better than another, which is the point of drawing after the lock.

**Is the 0-0 square good?**

For the first quarter it is the best square on the grid: it wins whenever neither team has scored yet. For the final it is ordinary.
