Employers pay less but hand you a queue.\n\nHere's the order I'd actually go in:\n\n**1. Wyzant** - My default recommendation for US tutors. You set your own rate ($25-$60 typical for academic subjects), and the site has real traffic. The cut is ~25%, dropping as a student rebooks. The honest catch: the cold start is rough - tutors report applying to 20+ job-board posts for a single student, and it can take months to land a first lesson without reviews. Worth it because once you have a repeat book, the economics are the best of any marketplace. [sidehusl.com/wyzant](https://sidehusl.com/wyzant/)\n\n**2. Varsity Tutors** - The best \"just give me students\" option. $15-$40/hr, no commission taken from you, but *they* set your rate (negotiated up front) and hand you the students. Pick this if you'd rather tutor than market. [sidehusl.com/varsity-tutors](https://sidehusl.com/varsity-tutors/)\n\n**3.
