Here's my ranking:\n\n## 1. Discourse - the default recommendation\nThe modern standard for forums. Open source, so you can self-host free, or pay for managed hosting from **$100/mo** (the cheaper $20 entry tier was discontinued in mid-2026). Excellent SEO - forum threads rank and pull organic traffic to your store, which is the single biggest commercial argument for a brand forum. Trust levels and community moderation mean it scales without you hiring a full-time moderator. It does SSO, so Shopify/WooCommerce customers log in with their existing account. Downside: it looks like a forum, not like your brand, unless you invest in theming.\n\n## 2. Circle - if your community is a product you sell\nBest choice if you're monetizing: paid memberships, courses, events, live streams, plus native iOS/Android apps. **$89/mo** billed annually plus 2% of member payments. Reviewers consistently find it easier to set up and administer than the enterprise options. Pick this if ", "answer_truncated": true, "measurement": "One answer from one engine on one date.
